Car Rental Brain is free to use and funded by affiliate commission. When you click a "Book" link and complete a rental, or buy cover through an insurance link, we may earn a commission — at no extra cost to you. You pay exactly the same price as you would by going to that company directly.

Who pays us

  • DiscoverCars — every car on this site is booked through DiscoverCars, and we may earn a commission on completed rentals.
  • DiscoverCars Full Coverage — where we suggest taking cover at checkout, that cover is DiscoverCars' own, and we earn a share of it. Worth saying plainly, because it is the larger half of what we are paid: on their published example the insurance share is about 70% of an affiliate's commission. Recommending something you are paid for is fine as long as you say so, and as long as you stop recommending it when it stops being the best answer — which is the next point.
  • We do not recommend it on long hires. Full Coverage is priced per day, so it is good value for a week and poor value for a month: at Faro, €71.76 for seven days against €214.86 for thirty. Past roughly a week our search stops recommending it and tells you to compare instead. We would earn more by staying quiet about that, which is exactly why it is written down here.
  • Excess-insurance providers — we currently link to none, and earn nothing from any.

What commission does not change

  • Rankings are by price, never by commission. We show the cheapest real total first, whatever we earn on it. We earn the same whichever car you pick.
  • We do not take payment to appear, to rank higher, or to be recommended. Nobody can buy a position here.
  • We show suppliers we earn nothing from, including any car whose supplier does not convert for us. Hiding them would make the comparison worthless.

How we compare

Totals are the rental price plus the second-driver fee when you add one. They exclude insurance and extras, so every option is like-for-like. Where a supplier does not publish its second-driver fee we estimate it and label the card as an estimate — we never hide the car or pretend the fee is zero.

Prices, availability and terms are set by DiscoverCars and the rental suppliers, not by us. Always check the final price and the rental conditions on the booking page before you pay.

Why we bother saying this

You deserve to know when a link earns us something, and you deserve to know it before you click rather than in a footnote afterwards. If commission ever did influence what we show you, this page would be a lie and the tool would be pointless.
